Match Report. Llandeilo A v. Cardiff B. 2nd March 2023

The night was dark, the looming presence of the doldrums that are West Wales awaited us. Cardiff B's had the long away trip to Llandeilo for a crucial clash towards the bottom of the table in Prem B. Tardy Phil decided to prolong that pain by arriving at Angus' super late to pick him up only to arrive at Ben's even later.

Upon arrival at Llandeilo many hours later, our knight in shining armour, and fantastically named Spike was already playing. Spike heroically played up from the C's and despite some great shots and solid determination, he was unfortunately up against too strong a foe tonight losing 3-0. Next up was Tom, playing the very talented girl from the west Nia. Using all his tactics, or lack thereof, Tom managed to take it down to the wire and pulled off a wonderful win at 12-10 in the 5th. Next up was Phil, who had tough opposition tonight in Andrew. Andrew had clearly taken a leaf from Tom's book and boasted every other shot, which was unfortunately too strong on the night. 3-0 loss. Angus and Ben then played for the match. Ben put on a masterclass after the first game and hit a few cheeky nicks for good measure. A very solid 3-1 win set Angus up for the last match. Angus was up against Mark last. A few topsy turvy games later with both players puffing set up the fifth deciding game for the whole match. Alas Angus had run out of steam and was more of a blocker than a hitter and lost 3-2.

What a great night of squash, despite a close loss for the B's. 9 valuable points leave us tied with Llandeilo A in 6th, just above the relegation zone. Llandeilo may be a nice team, but Jesus Christ they may as well live in Ireland. We will have them on the return at home for sure! Well done lads.
